DHL Express relaunches simplified shipping service in Japan

DHL Express is re-introducing its easy-to-use international box service in Japan, DHL Jumbo Box, this month. The company said the service allows customers to send shipments at simple fixed prices for each destination in two different weight categories, making it easy to find out the shipping fee based on parcel size, weight and destination.

With the promise of “sturdy” easy-to-prepare packaging, the service offers a 34cm-by-32cm-by-35cm box for shipments up to 10kg, and a 54cm-by-44cm-by-41cm box for shipments up to 25kg.

The service means a simple option for customers less familiar with the international shipping process, the company said.

DHL said it was bringing back the service at a new “reasonable” pricing structure, with 20% lower prices than the previous version, which started in 2001 in Japan.

Shipments on the service can be tracked in real time on the dedicated JUMBO BOX website, DHL said.

Junko Takata, senior director of marketing at DHL Japan, said: “We have decided to reintroduce the service with more simple and reasonable solutions to answer the demand of customers who needed a really easy-to-use option for shipping.

“We will support every business needs with this reintroduced DHL Jumbo Box service, which offers simplicity even for customers who are not familiar with the international shipment process,” added Takata.

DHL said the packaging used for its Jumbo Box service is environmentally-friendly 100% recycled material, fitting in with its global environmental protection programme, GoGreen.
