Purolator International appoints ex-DHL VP to lead sales

Purolator International has seen a few changes at the top in recent weeks, and announced yesterday the promotion of former DHL VP Jonathan Routledge to head up its marketing and sales. The company based in Jericho, New York, said Routledge had been promoted from his previous role as district manager for the Eastern US to become vice president of sales and marketing.

The appointment, effective from this month, puts British native Routledge in one of the top roles on the Purolator International executive team, reporting direct to president John Constanzo.

The promotion came in the wake of the departure of the company’s business development vice president, Conal Finnegan, earlier this year.

Routledge will focus on marketing and sales initiatives as Purolator International continues its “aggressive” expansion plans in the US, and potentially begins to look to more business outside America.

The new VP has a long career in the industry, including 23 years at DHL, having started out at DHL Express in the UK, before relocating to the US as DHL regional sales director in 2005, and culminating in his appointment as DHL vice president of sales in 2007.

After joining package delivery company Streamlite Inc in 2009, Routledge joined Purolator last year, based at the company’s Farmingdale, New York, location.

Constanzo said of the appointment: “Purolator International is expanding, opening new locations across the US. Jon’s 25 years in the global logistics industry will be extremely valuable in guiding us forward.”

Expanding

Purolator International was renamed from Purolator Courier Ltd, as the international arm of Canada Post-owned courier firm Purolator Inc. The firm specialises in helping businesses ship from the US to Canada.

Since last year, Purolator International has doubled its presence in the US, opening new offices in Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Miami, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Salt Lake City and San Francisco.

Further expansion is planned in the US this year as the company seeks to build on growth in cross-border shipments between the US and Canada fueled by the rise of e-commerce.

  • An interview with Purolator International president John Constanzo will appear in the next issue of Post&Parcel’s sister title, Mail & Express Review, discussing the company’s growth ambitions.
