Vanderlande to supply sorter for Norway Post parcel plant
Dutch material handling systems manufacturer Vanderlande is supplying a new sorting system for a new Norway Post parcel-sorting plant. The company said today will be installing a new “Posisorter” system at the new sorting terminal in Fredrikstad, about 100km south of Oslo.
Norway Post is aiming to co-locate parcel processing operations with pallet processing systems in the plant.
Vanderlande said the project would be the second sorter supplied to Norway Post, with the post’s subsidiary Bring Express already using a Posisorter system at its facility in Jönköping, Sweden.
Cormac Lombard, Norway Post’s purchaser for the project, said: “Vanderlande Industries met all the qualitative properties set by Norway Post and handed in a very competitive offer.”
Vanderlande said its Posisorter system has gone through a number of improvements since its initial launch in 1989.
The system comprises a horizontal high-speed sorting conveyor using aluminium carriers that form a closed deck so that no objects can fall through or become stuck. Divert shoes slide across the full-width carriers to gently push items into output spurs.
Available either as single or dual-sided sortation, the system has a “plug and play” design allowing for easy maintenance and quick replacement of parts.
“To maintain our competitive advantage, we need to innovate to constantly provide our customers with the best solutions,” explained Roald de Groot, the company’s key account manager for parcel and postal markets. “Maximising system availability at the lowest operating costs within an optimal working environment is a key driver for our research and development activities.”
