THE CZECH LOGISTICS FIRMS DANZAS AND DEUTSCHE POST CZ MERGE

Danzas (Ostrava, Czech Republic), forwarding firm, merged with the logistics firm Deutsche Post CZ (DPCZ) (Czech Republic) as of 01 Jan 2002. All the legal steps of the merger should be completed during 2H 2002. The merger of both the firms is a part of the European project of the parent firms Danzas Holding and Deutsche Post International. DPCZ entered the Czech market by the operation of the express parcel system EuroExpress in 1998. The network EuroExpress has six transship centres at the beginning of 2002. Danzas, which has roughly a 20% share on the Czech forwarding market, has over 60 branches in all the Czech Republic in 2002. In 2000 Danzas saw an audited net profit of CEK 35.4 mil under proceeds of CEK 2.075 bil. The company has roughly 1,000 employees and a stock of CEK 29.45 mil.
