Automotive hub for TNT Logistics planned in Singapore
Singapore has been chosen as the automotive logistics hub for TNT Logistics for Asia. According to Mr Joroen de Wilde, regional director for Asia, the company will hook up with a Singapore-based partner to offer infrastructure but declined to disclose the partner. He added that Singapore had the right location and infrastructure to become TNT Logistics’ hub for Asia. Thus it will transfer its expertiese in automotive logistics from US and Europe to Asia with Singapore as its hub. Singapore will transform into its spare parts and finished car distribution centre for the region. The objective of selecting Singapore as its automotive logistics hub is to turn its automotive business into the largest revenue earner for its worldwide operations by 2005. Currently Asia is the largest revenue earner for the group’s logistics operations in fast-moving consumer goods (FMGC). TNT Logistics is the biggest supply chain management provider for the automotive industry in the world.
