DNB Group signs up to Norway Post’s digital mail

Norway’s largest financial services group has signed up to use Norway Post’s digital mail service, Digi Post. DNB Group, which is one of the largest banking firms in the Nordic region, will use Digi Post to offer customers the option of receiving their statements electronically rather than physically.

The Oslo-based bank will now integrate the Digi Post service with its own IT systems.

Customers registered with the Digi Post service look likely to be offered the option of receiving their statements in their personal digital mailbox later this year, Norway Post said.

“Statements from financial institutions are among the type of communications that is well-suited to secure distribution through Digi Post,” said Norway Post’s director of mail Thomas Mathisen.

“With the introduction of the Digi Post service, DNB will give their customers a choice whether to receive their letters in their physical mailbox, their online bank or Digi Post.”

Digi Post was launched last spring, offering customers a digital mailbox linked to their street address and national ID number.

DNB group has about 2m customers, and is currently one of Norway Post’s biggest physical mail customers.

Norway Post said users of the bank’s website who currently receive their statements online through that platform will also be offered the option to switch to using the Digi Post service.

The Post said introduction of the service was likely to be “gradual”.

“By giving customers choice in how they want to receive their documetns, either physically, in Digi Post or online banking, the bank serves customer needs in a very effective way,” said Mathisen.
