UPS opens delivery facility in Eastern Canada
UPS has been continuing its expansion within eastern Canada this week with the opening of a new facility in Greater Moncton. The new Dieppe facility represents a multi-million dollar investment and is set to create around 250 new jobs.
Although UPS has had a presence in the area for 18 years, with 400 staff employed in New Brunswick and 19 franchised UPS Store locations in the Atlantic Canada region, pickup and delivery services for business customers began in late April.
Shelley Gares, director of operations for Atlantic Canada said expanding services to the business community in the area was a “natural step” for UPS.
“We are committed to providing the same quality of service and safety standards to the region that we are known for across the globe,” said Gares.
“The Greater Moncton community has been very supportive of us through the years. As part of our legacy, we will continue to show our support and give back to the people and businesses that have been so good to us.”
Atlanta-based UPS is planning to continue expanding in the region throughout this year, with plans to add six more cities in Atlantic provinces to its network later in 2012.
Services in Halifax, Nova Scotia, began at the end of last month.
