Swiss Post provides digital channel for Deutsche Bahn pay slips

Swiss Post is now providing digital or hybrid delivery services for German state railway operator Deutsche Bahn. Using Swiss Post’s hybrid mailing solution ePostSelect, Deutsche Bahn can now send out confidential documents like pay slips to its employees working in any country.

Pay slips can either be received as hardcopy mail or as an encrypted digital mailpiece via Swiss Post’s IncaMail digital mail platform.

Hardcopy items are printed by Swiss Post Solutions within Germany, at its Document Output Centre in Dettingen.

Deutsche Bahn Group employs about 295,000 people in more than 130 countries around the world, with 193,000 of those employees in Germany. Swiss Post said sending confidential documents to staff in various countries had been a challenge for the company.

“With the ePostSelect hybrid solution, the work can be significantly reduced,” said Swiss Post. “Furthermore, the recipients can freely choose their preferred channel for the receipt of the confidential mail – on hard copy or digital.”

Integrated

Swiss Post has been receiving travel expenses and payroll accounting data from Deutsche Bahn since the start of the year, printing out documents in their existing form.

But Deutsche Bahn employees will now receive instructions on how to register with ePostSelect to opt to receive items digitally through IncaMail at their private email address, using any email system like GMX, web.de or Google’s Gmail. The employees will not have to create a brand new email address just to receive their digital pay slips.

Deutsche Bahn, which is understood to have selected Swiss Post above Deutsche Post’s services because of its applicability outside Germany, is expecting to save on mailing costs with the digital-hybrid solution.

Swiss Post said the railway operator was able to integrate the ePostSelect system with its existing IT and resource planning systems and cut postal charges, as well as other logistics costs.

The ePostSelect system also allows other communications channels to be integrated including fax, SMS and in future De-Mail.
