Business Post Group comment regarding Postcomm report

Business Post welcomes the report issued this morning by the Postal Services

Commission (“Postcomm”), the postal industry regulator, which will permit it to expand its mail operations.

The report indicates that Business Post’s subsidiary, UK Mail, will be able to

secure an indefinite licence from April 2002 for collections by all its 63 depots (whereas previously Postcomm had awarded UK Mail a one year interim licence for 12 depots). Accordingly, UK Mail’s service will be open to all business mail senders.

In the light of the above, Paul Carvell, Chief Executive of Business Post,

confirmed that Business Post would be revisiting the original business plan in anticipation of an enlarged operation. Consequently, a delay may occur in launching the new enlarged service, but it is still anticipated that it will commence in the Spring or early Summer of 2002.
