A Government shake-up of up to 2,000 post offices could lead to many of them being left “unsustainable or unsuitable” for local people, a committee of MPs has warned.
The Post Office – which was separated from Royal Mail earlier this year – is planning to speed up the roll out of its new Post Office Locals from this summer, as part of a major overhaul of the 11,800-strong post office network.
But the MPs warned the plans could be undermined by deficiencies in the training of staff and the inflexibility of its proposals, and a reduction in services offered by the outlets.
