An Post Acquires KOMPASS Ireland
An Post has purchased the business information company KOMPASS Ireland. KOMPASS has developed a highly classified database of products, services and executives of Irish companies.
More than 100,000 entries are included in the database of KOMPASS which was founded in 1985, by Pat Cody and Michael Coughlan. The purchase price of the deal is not being disclosed.
The acquisition of KOMPASS Ireland is part of An Post strategy to expand its purchasing information and the direct marketing side of its Letter Post operations. KOMPASS will continue to operate as a stand alone company with its current management.
Liam Sheehan, marketing manager of Letter Post said the availability of high quality consumer and business databases were central to the development of the Irish Direct Marketing market.
“The Irish Direct Mail market is underdeveloped relative to other European countries. An Post currently owns a controlling interest in Precision Marketing Information (PMI) which is the clear market leader in this country for consumer data.
“The acquisition of KOMPASS as the recognised repository for business data is an excellent strategic fit with our plans for PMI, DM Works and Print Post, another An Post subsidiary,” Mr Sheehan added.
Pat Cody said “The acquisition by An Post will allow us to expand our services in our two main business areas of Purchasing information and Direct Marketing databases. KOMPASS is ideally placed to help Irish companies get a major share of new business growth.”
