FedEx Express expands International First service

FedEx Express is expanding its “International First” service for customers needing items delivered as early as the start of the next business day. The company said it is nearly doubling the number of destination markets for the door-to-door express service, making it available to eight more countries around the world.

The new destinations added are Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Japan, Luxembourg and Mexico.

They bring the total number of countries on the service to 19.

Depending on the country of origin and destination, FedEx Express’s International First service offers transit times of between one and three days.

The time-definite, customs-cleared service for packages up to 150lbs (68kg) sees deliveries received as early as 8am in the United States, 9am in Europe and 10am in Asia, Canada and Latin America.

FedEx said the expansion of the service was part of its focus on key global growth markets. The company is looking to make cutbacks within FedEx Express in the United States over the next year as demand for premium products slows.

Commenting on the International First destination additions, Fedex Global Marketing and Customer Experience senior vice president Raj Subramaniam said: “The ‘International First’ expansion highlights the FedEx commitment to serve as a global connector – Staying ahead of our customers’ needs by strengthening the network that links them to businesses and economies large and small.”
