Isle of Man Post Office has ISO accreditation renewed

The Isle of Man Post Office has had its Integrated Mailing Solutions division (IMS) internationally accredited for another three years with the recertification of its two ISO standards. IMS is the specialist communications division of Isle of Man Post Office. In 2009 it achieved ISO 27001:2005, the recognised data security standard which was awarded for all of its services including mail opening, scanning, data capture, printing, fulfilment, franking and stationery supply.

Last year it was successful in achieving ISO 9001:2008 – the world’s most established quality framework which sets the standard not only for quality management systems, but management systems in general.

The accrediting body LRQA (Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance) recently conducted a rigorous and thorough audit of IMS to ensure the continuing compliance to the standards required by the International Standards Organisation and there were no major or minor nonconformities.

Over recent years, IMS has developed to become a very successful mailing house and has seen its client base grow, attracting both on and off-Island customers.

In order to have achieved this status, IMS has had to meet clients’ requirements and expectations and work hard to achieve and maintain the two ISO standards. All employees are highly trained in quality management and data security best practice.

Tony Randle, General Manager IMS, (pictured) said: “I’m pleased to announce IMS has successfully undertaken a re-certification audit for ISO 27001:2005 and ISO 9001:2008 with external auditors LRQA. This audit scrutinises the processes and procedures ensuring that all IMS services deliver the standard expected with these certificates. As IMS grows, having these standards displays to our clients our continual commitment to develop.”

Randle added: “We are finding more and more that our customers are looking for these accreditations as a pre requisite to outsourcing their data to a third party. We continue to stay ahead of our competitors by being the only mailing specialist in the Isle of Man and Channel Islands to hold the ISO for Information Security”
