Otto & TPG units joint control of Germanys EP Europost cleared by EU

The European Commission said it cleared the acquisition by an Otto Versand unit and a TPG NV unit for joint control of German mail distribution group EP Europost. The Otto unit is Hermes Boten Service GmbH and Co KG and the TPG unit is City Courier (Nederland) BV. EP Europost is the collective name of two undertakings – EP Europost AG and Co KG and EP Europost Geschaeftsfuehrungs AG. The clearance was under the simplified procedure of the EU merger regulation. The EU Commissions decision concerning Hermes intended participation in the Hanover based Europos AG is expected next week. It had been previously reported that the Otto Group had opted for a participation in the TPG subsidiary Europost in order to create a nationwide delivery network for letters, catalogues and advertising mail.
