Totalpost health and safety accredited by safecontractor

One of the largest manufacturers of Royal Mail-approved franking machine cartridges, Totalpost, has now been accredited by health and safety standards agency safecontractor. To achieve the safecontractor standard, Cumbria-based Totalpost said it underwent a “rigorous” vetting process to examine their health and safety procedures and assess their track record for safe practice.

As a company that now meets the high standard, Totalpost will now be included on the safecontractor database, which is accessible to registered users via the website www.safecontractor.com.

David Hymers, managing director at Totalpost said: “As a manufacturer, distributor and supplier working across multiple industries and within many different businesses, good health and safety practice is an essential part of our culture at Totalpost.

“We are very pleased to have been recognised by safecontractor and believe that it will give our customers increased confidence in our abilities to undertake contracts in a safe and responsible manner,” added Hymers.

John Kinge, technical director of safecontractor, said major organisations couldn’t afford to run the risk of employing contractors who cannot prove they have sound health and safety policies in place.

He said: “More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Totalpost has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”

Employing 42 people across three sites Totalpost is a mailroom equipment, supply and threat detection specialist with an international presence across more than 25 countries.

The company was established in 2002, and now has offices and processing locations in Warrington and Swindon, as well as at its home based in Cumbria.
