Romanian mail increase tariffs for external and internal competition services

Tariffs for internal and external mail services will be increased starting March 15, aiming at covering the results from changes in consumption costs and on ROL/DST exchange rates, according to National Mail Company.

As for internal services, message tariffs for up to 1 kg packages increases from 2,000 lei to 2,500 lei, while a special delivery letter will cost 4,000 lei, against ROL 3,000 as currently.

As well, arrival confirmation will be charged 4,000 lei, 500 lei more than the present tariff, and the subscription for a mailbox 19,000, as compared with ROL 16,000 as presently.

The dispatch through Prioripost service will be charged, up to 100-g packages, with ROL 15,000, the increase is thus by ROL 3,000.

The tariffs for packages sent abroad were raised by 20%.

Romanian Post Office states that tariffs for basic mail services – plain mail, Post-Office order and express telegrams, international Post-Office orders – are not changed.

The last increase in tariffs practiced by national post-office operator took place on October 15,2001.
