2001 results of Norwegian Post Office

Posten Norge, the Norwegian Post Office, reports a NOK 711mn (USD 80mn) profit before extra-ordinary items for 2001, a NOK 1.6bn improvement compared with 2000. Operating result improved by NOK 848mn to NOK 843mn. Net extra-ordinary revenues totaled NOK 529mn, and are mainly attributed to sales of properties, among these the Postal Giro building in Oslo, and the sell-offs of Posten Regnskapsservice (accounting services) and Posten Billetservice (ticket services). The number of letter-packets decreased by 2.4% compared with 2000, and the number of parcels by 2.3%. This is the first time ever the number of letter-packets dropped.
