Consignia agrees with flexible sortation rules

Consignia is to overhaul the implementation of its sortation standards for high volume mailers, after protests from mailing houses that certain rules are proving unworkable.
After meeting with the DMA, Consignia has agred to propose a more flexible way of enforcing the rules, known collectively as Contract Compliance Process or CCP. CCP was introduced a year ago to improve standards of mail sortation by mailing houses – standards that generate Consignia discounts. But mailing houses have been held up because single items within a mail bag do not comply with CCP rules.
Consignias proposals expected later this month, are likely to include extra training for Consignia staff. Alex Walsh, Royal Mail Media Markets trade association manager, said Consignia was ‘unwilling to bend‘ the CCP rules, which have resulted in ‘dramatically higher‘ mail presentation standards. Rather it is seeking ‘a more commonsense approach‘ to implementing them.
