Shenzhen aviation park to land mail marvel

SHENZHEN will build what it has touted to be the most advanced postal services and logistics support centre in Asia.

The State Post Office and Guangdong Post Office will invest millions of dollars in building the facility, which will cover 1.18 million square feet in the Shenzhen Aviation Logistics Park, according to the Shenzhen Commercial Daily.

Chen Bichang, head of the Shenzhen Municipal Post Office, said the new facility would introduce the most advanced automatic mail-handling system providing “the best services in Asia”.

The mail would no longer be classified by type but by size and would be stored in containers instead of bags.

The system was expected to speed up handling of mail, enhance efficiency and lower costs, the report said.

The location in the Shenzhen Aviation Logistics Park would provide a wide range of management services including more efficient air freight services and “cost-effective logistics solutions for businesses”.

Shenzhen is one of 11 cities in China to which mail planes fly direct.
