DA Systems’ technology supports Rico’s acquisition of DHL UK Same Day

DA Systems, a UK provider of mobile data and transport management solutions for the transport, retail, healthcare and field service sectors, has implemented ACI software for Rico Logistics, following its acquisition of DHL UK Same Day.

Rico, completed the deployment of DA Systems’ real-time courier management software across the entire new transportation fleet by day one of the new trading entity, on 1st November 2013.
Rico was formed 25 years ago and has since established itself as one of Europe’s largest sameday logistics and parts distribution operations operating in 10 European countries. To stand out in a competitive market, Rico implemented unique service benefits for customers, which its competition simply did not offer. These included guaranteed collection within 20 minutes for any job booked and a courtesy phone call to customers confirming the time of delivery and consignee name update.

Following recent investment by the TVS Group, Rico has been able to expedite its growth plans by putting in place the necessary financial structure. The DHL UK Same Day acquisition is the first in Rico’s ambitious growth plan and will see the organisation grow to a value of £80 million with a fleet of over 1,400 couriers and 35 locations across the UK. This makes Rico a considerable force in the sameday courier market, whilst enabling it to continue focusing on specialist services.

This increased fleet means that Rico customers are able to benefit from greater resources, improved responsiveness and reduced waiting times. To achieve this Rico rolled out DA Systems’ market-leading sameday courier solution, which includes real-time proof of delivery (POD) capture and consignment tracking. This means ex-DHL Same Day customers now also benefit from improved visibility and tracking.

Sam Sharma, Chief Executive Officer at Rico said:

“This is a very exciting time for Rico. The acquisition has given our ambitious growth plan considerable momentum and will enable us to generate increased exposure for our brand and the range of services we offer. Working with DA Systems allows us to continue developing innovative ways to differentiate ourselves from competitors.

David Upton, Managing Director at DA Systems comments:

The acquisition has doubled Rico’s fleet and we are delighted that they continue investing in our technology and infrastructure, enabling them to deliver a complete end-to-end logistics service. The market today is moving towards less human interaction and more automation without compromising customer service, ACI enables them to achieve this and keeps them ahead of the competition.”
