CitySprint to trial two hour time slot ‘store to door’ delivery service

Standard Life Investments, one of the largest owners of retail assets in the UK, have partnered with the UK same day distribution company, CitySprint, to trial the UK’s first two hour time slot ‘store to door’ delivery service from a shopping centre. The trial launches at Churchill Square Shopping Centre in Brighton on Thursday 10th April 2014, and will run for two weeks during the centre’s busiest periods from Thursdays to Sundays. It will enable customers to pick a two-hour time slot for delivery of their shopping, and the ability to track it in real time.

Visitors living within a ten-mile radius of the Centre will have access to the new home delivery service, allowing the trial to reach approximately 367,000 people.

Ed Jenkins, Head of UK Retail for Standard Life Investments, said: “The nature of retailing is changing which is why we’re constantly looking for new ideas to improve the experience of shoppers across our portfolio of centres. Our latest initiative is a simple yet effective service that allows customers to combine the experience of visiting Churchill Square with the convenience usually associated with online shopping, helping to drive retailer sales across the Centre.”

Patrick Gallagher, Chief Executive of CitySprint, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with Standard Life Investments to provide a first of its kind solution in the retail space. We understand that consumer expectations are increasing every day and by working together we can offer visitors to Churchill Square even more convenience and flexibility.”
