Letter to FT from Graham Corbett

Sir I was surprised at your suggestion that the way Postcomm has introduced competition into postal services has damaged our credibility (“Post con”, May 30). You would presumably have preferred us to ignore the comments made to us during the consultation process and brought down the postal service in a welter of industrial action and market confusion.

We have achieved a result that would not have been thought remotely possible two years ago. We have produced a set of decisions welcomed by Consignia, Postwatch, the Communication Workers Union (more or less), leading independent operators and the government. In doing so we have listened carefully to all interested parties. That is the most credible form of regulation.
