ATSG support DHL air freight services in US to 2019

Air Transport Services Group has agreed a new deal to support DHL’s air network in the United States for four more years. The Ohio-based firm said its deal extends dry leases for 13 Boeing 767 freighters currently leased to DHL for its US air network until March 2019.

It also includes new dry leases for two Boeing 767s.

And, the deal includes ATSG subsidiary ABX Air’s continued operation of 15 Boeing 767 freighters leased to DHL until March 2019.

ATSG said the agreement marked the next stage in its 11-year relationship with DHL, through which it provides the aircrafts and services supporting the air freight moving through DHL’s US network every day, as well as providing additional freighters to support DHL operations elsewhere in the world.

The new deal comes with incentives to provide superior operating performance, but ATSG said it also contains terms to broaden its support of DHL global network operations.

Joe Hete, the President and CEO of ATSG, said: “This new agreement will give DHL continued access to efficient, reliable freighter services in the U.S. market.”

ATSG describes itself as the world’s largest owner and operator of converted Boeing 767 freighter aircraft. More than half of its 45 Boeing 767 freighters are deployed under multi-year dry leases.
