GLS expands evening and Saturday deliveries in Germany
Royal Mail’s European express parcels business GLS has extended its evening and Saturday deliveries to two more cities in Germany. Offering the service for home deliveries in Hamburg and Bonn brings the service to a total of eight metropolitan areas in Germany.
Deliveries available to users of the FlexDeliveryService can be requested for the evening window of 5pm to 8pm, or on Saturdays between 8am and 1pm.
Along with Hamburg and Bonn, the service is also currently available in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich and Nuremberg.
Klaus Conrad, managing director at GLS Germany, said: “Parcel recipients want their deliveries to be as convenient as the online ordering is. With our service, you can adjust delivery according to their requirements and daily routines.”
GLS Germany said its FlexDeliveryService offers a “comprehensive” approach to home delivery, providing information to recipients on delivery times in advance to get them more involved in the process.
The company offers delivery alternatives including collection at a GLS parcel shop, delivery on another date or to another address, and delivery to a nominated location.
GLS, which has its corporate headquarters in the Amsterdam, manages about 404m packages each year, through a network of 39 hubs and 662 depots spanning 37 countries.
