E-commerce boost for German parcel industry

The total turnover for Germany’s courier, express and parcel (CEP) industry grow by 3.6% to 16.6bn Euros in 2014. This is according to the latest annual results from the industry association, Bundesverband Paket und Expresslogistik (BIEK), which were announced in Berlin yesterday (9 July).

The industry also saw 4.5% increase in the volume of shipments, with 2.8bn items handled.

The BIEK survey found that the international package sector was a particular strong growth area – fuelled by the surge in cross-border e-commerce.
