India Post’s Central Region starts parcel packaging service

Sources from India Post’s Central Region report that the postal department is looking to ramp up its involvement in the e-commerce world by offering a parcel packaging service. According to local reports, the postal department will start the roll out at six head post offices in the region.

“The package facility will soon be extended to almost all the major post offices. This is also a part of adopting new business governed by e-commerce industry,” Region post master general M Venketeswarlu said at a press conference yesterday (9 July).

Local sources also report that the department will launch a parcel booking centre at Kadavanthara to meet the increasing demand of the parcel business.

“This has been started to aim at the future parcel business in the state here. Here people can send parcels to anywhere else against a nominal fees,” Venketeswarlu was quoted as saying.
