La Poste to grow

In its own works, the French postal service is ‘France‘s largest employer‘. Currently, La Poste has 330,000 on its payroll. Whereas state-owned and state-managed postal services in many other countries of the EU have been steadily reducing their headcount over the years, the French company has decided to go in the opposite direction.
La Poste wants to hire another 140,000 people over the next 10 years. An equal number are due to retire from the French postal service by 2012. However, these La Poste employees have not chosed to take early retirement but will be working up to their full statutory retirement age.
Georges Lefebvre, general director of the French postal services provider, comments on his company‘s plans for the future as follows: ‘We expect our business to continue its current positive development and to continue on its expansion course in future. This will allow us to maintain and even raise our level of employment.‘ La Poste is offering 8,000 new jobs this year alone.
