Baker Goodchild reports “successful presence” at MEDS
Birmingham-based direct mail fulfilment and print management services provider, Baker Goodchild has reported that it enjoyed a successful presence and customer interaction at this year’s Mail & Express Delivery Show Conference and Exhibition, where it was also one of the event’s main co-sponsors. The show, which was held on 30th June at The Olympia Conference Centre in the heart of London, brought together a wide variety of mail and delivery experts from across the industry sector, with Baker Goodchild being one of the main support sponsors of the event for the first time.
Speakers at the industry forum staged as part of the exhibition included a wide range of industry experts from the likes of Doddle, Royal Mail, Neopost, Palletways and Ofcom.
The wide range of varied attendees throughout the day included customers from the likes of American Apparel, Argos, Citipost Mail, ONEPOST, Office Depot, Marks and Spencer, Royal Mail, Yodel and Sainsbury’s amongst others.
Speakers at the show included Gavin Macrae of Neopost, Julian Myers of Santander, Tim Robinson of Doddle, Nick Wells from Whistl and Stephen Agar and Roger Morris from Royal Mail.
Julian Myers, Director of Logistics with Santander, was one of the speakers under the subject of ‘How letters play their part in the Digital World’. Julian spoke about ‘The importance of the quality of service.’ He also said that by taking simple steps, such as improvements through process risk control measure, marginal gains, and implementing new controls, a recipe for success can be created.
Stephen Agar, Managing Director Consumer & Network Access with Royal Mail, spoke about, ‘Enhancing mail efficiency and effectiveness to increase customer value’. He informed those present how Royal Mail had invested significantly in advertising mail, to help drive awareness of mail as a communication channel, and change the perception of what mail can achieve for brands.
Stephen revealed that an 18 month study had shown that mail is still a part of the ebb and flow of a household, is opened, valued and kept, and can help to deliver sales uplift and give a return on investment.
“Mail creates an emotional response, and people feel valued by mail.”
“We found that mail delivers results, reaches new audiences and makes money,” he stated.
Stephen also explained Mailmark™, an initiative which will help bring transparency to customers and give them better and timelier data, creating opportunities for marketing owners, providing quicker and more detailed knowledge across the supply chain.
He concluded by stating that despite the rise of digital and electronic communication methods, such as email, twitter and tablets, mail is still thriving.
Baker Goodchild was represented by the Managing Director Lorraine Burnell, and Account Directors Adam Stafford and Gareth Stringer.
Speaking about the success of the Show, and Baker Goodchild’s presence, Lorraine stated, “It’s been the 4th year I’ve attended the Mail & Express show but our first as one of the main co-sponsors. The event provides a great opportunity to meet our supply partners & customers and the speakers always give a great indication of how they see the mail & post market developing and evolving.
