PostNL reportedly testing parcel delivery boxes

PostNL has been trialing the use of “Always-home” parcel delivery boxes, according to reports. The boxes are designed to be secured to the exterior of customers’ houses, so they can receive mail deliveries when they are not at home. Customers are sent an email alert when parcels are deposited in their boxes, and when they get home they can unlock the boxes using their passwords.

According to reports in local media, PostNL employees have been testing the boxes at their own homes.

As previously reported, there are a number of technology companies that have manufactured their own versions of parcel delivery boxes, including ParcelHome (which ran a three-month trial in the Belgian city of Mechelen) and UK-based Pelipod.
