Neopost supplies mail room solution to Manchester Met University

Neopost has reported that it has supplied the Manchester Met University with new heavy duty mailroom furniture for its 13 self-collect mailrooms. According to Neopost, this new furniture solution has resulted in improved efficiency in terms of cost and human resources.

Prior to installation the University’s central mail team provided an internal desk delivery service to its academic and administrative staff handling nearly 200,000 letters and parcels annually.

This delivery service was proving to be costly, so Lee Willcocks, the university’s Assistant Facilities Manager for Mail, looked for a solution to the issue.

“We were already customers of Neopost and had always found their equipment and service to be excellent. The University’s newly built Faculty of Business and Law was nearing completion and we needed to install the self-collect post room in the new building as soon as possible. As we have a good relationship with Neopost, we asked them what they could propose.”

Neopost offers a bespoke mailroom design service with a site visit to discuss requirements, take measurements and provide a computerised 3D image of the proposed design. The mailroom furniture is built to withstand the heavy demands of the University’s self-collect post rooms with metal frames manufactured from extra strong 50 x 25mm steel and hard-wearing, laminated worktops.

Willcocks explained how the self-collect system works in practice: “Neopost produced the design and installed the mailroom furniture. Staff access the room using their key cards, so it is secure with no unauthorised access. Letters and small parcels are left in their trays. For larger parcels, we leave a note in their tray and place the parcel in the work space underneath the racking unit.”
