TNT China upgrades Shanghai gateway facility

TNT China upgrades Shanghai gateway facility

TNT China has announced a major upgrade to its international gateway facility (PVG) in Shanghai. The upgraded PVG facility is still located within the Shanghai International Airport Freight Centre, but is now housed in a new building.

In a statement issued yesterday (28 September) TNT said that the upgrade will allow the company to process 50% more packages per hour – thanks to “a €2m  investment in state-of-the-art measurement equipment and a well-planned floor layout designed to maximise process flow”.

TNT said that the increased sorting capacity will mean that the company can shave at least one hour off pick-up times for express and economy shipments, giving its customers greater flexibility in shipment preparations.

Andrew Yang, Managing Director for TNT Mainland China and Hong Kong said: “Our customers will benefit from the improved capabilities and Shanghai’s growing repute as an international airport hub will provide them with rapid access and extensive reach to the world and similarly from the world into China.”
