What’s Tesco up to Now?

Tesco has reportedly trademarked the term “Tesco Now”, prompting media speculation that the supermarket giant could be planning to launch a rapid food and grocery delivery service in the UK. Of course, the term could be used for a variety of purposes, but there had been talk in the industry already that Tesco may be looking to start a one-hour delivery offering  – and the name does seem to fit (rather like Amazon Prime Now).

Tesco has not responded to the speculation about the potential new delivery service, and a company spokesperson would only go so far as to say: “We trademark a range of names to protect potential projects involving the Tesco brand.”
