Amazon India running vehicle loan scheme for delivery associates

Amazon India is offering its delivery associates zero down payment vehicle loans. Under the scheme, which Amazon announced last month, delivery associates can secure zero down payment loans to upgrade their two wheelers to Mahindra’s mini truck “Jeeto”.

The initiative is being piloted in Hyderabad and will subsequently roll out to Amazon delivery associates across the country. Amazon has partnered with Quess, its staffing partner, and the automobile manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.

The scheme is open to delivery associates in Hyderabad who have been working with the company for at least five months. They will also need to pass background checks and “show proof of or acquire” a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) Driving licence.

Samuel Thomas, Director Transportation, Amazon India, said: Our delivery associates play a critical role in delivering a great customer experience and we are proud to be able to provide this unique opportunity to them.

“The programme is designed to help associates improve their safety while on the road as well as build their capability to earn more than what they did before. It is the first of its kind efforts in this space and with opportunities like this Amazon hopes to transform the lives of our treasured workforce.

The Jeeto mini-truck that will be made available to the associates under this initiative has been specially customized for Amazon.in delivery associates.

Amazon India said that the initial response has been “very positive”,  adding that there are “more associates keen to sign up in the coming months”.
