Target unveils Black Friday strategy

Target has announced that its promotional strategy for Black Friday will be a “10 Days of Deals” promotion, which will involve “deep daily discounts” running from 22 November through to 1 December.

As part of the “10 Days of Deals”, customers (or “guests”, as Target prefers to call them) will have access to a “Black Friday presale” on the preceding Wednesday (25 November).

“Black Friday continues to kick off the holiday shopping season for many guests,” said Tina Tyler, Chief Stores Officer, Target. “This year Target will open our doors at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving for the millions of families who make Black Friday in-store shopping part of their tradition. For those shopping from home, Target is once again making all of our Black Friday deals available on Target.com.”

“In addition, we’re introducing ‘10 Days of Deals’ to offer a wide variety of compelling deals before, during and after Black Friday.”

From early on Thanksgiving morning (the US holiday on Thursday, 26 November), guests can shop all of Target’s Black Friday deals at the Target.com website, or in-store when the doors open at 6 p.m.

Guests who spend $75 or more on Black Friday itself will receive a 20% discount to use toward a future purchase on any day between 4-13 December.

Reading between the lines, Target appears keen to ride the wave of excitement that now surges around Black Friday, but it is also taking steps to spread some of the peak across the ten-day period.

As previously reported by Post&Parcel, Target is repeating its holiday-season offer of free shipping and returns on all online purchases in the US. The offer started on 1 November and will run through till Christmas Day (25 December).
