Chronopost inaugurates hub in Northern France
Chronopost has inaugurated its new Courcelles-lès-Lens hub in Northern France. In a statement issued earlier this month, Chronopost said the Courcelles-lès-Lens facility – its sixth national hub – will pool transit, collection and delivery operations on one site.
Chronopost, which is part of DPDgroup, believes the move will allow it to deal with the continued rise in its local operations (for which a 13% growth is expected in 2015) and to cater to the high demand of local shippers such as Ingram, Decathlon, La Redoute and Bernard.
All the flows from customers in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region will transit via the new site as well as those from Benelux and Chronopost expects the site will process over 60,000 items a day. The hub is directly connected to depots in Lille and Valenciennes as well as hubs in Chilly-Mazarin, Poitiers, Lyon-Corbas, Le Mans, Roissy for international items and DPD’s Mechelen hub for Benelux.
