Frankfurt becomes Panalpina's third European hub

Panalpina, a European forwarding and logistics services provider, is expanding its Frankfurt operations and moving into the CargoCity Sud section of the airport in a move that will make it the Swiss company’s third European airfreight hub.

The hub is due for completion next summer, the company said, adding it will make use of a new 14,000 square meter freight handling center and a further 2,000 square meters of office space.

The firm said it plans to send the majority of airfreight passing into and out of Germany through Frankfurt, and some of the freight it handles elsewhere in Europe will also pass through the new facility.

Frankfurt will join Luxembourg and Paris as one of Panalpina’s main European airfreight hubs. The company said it feels that a network of hubs is essential to its hopes for airfreight expansion.
