Meeting on future of postal service
The future of Scotland’s postal service was the subject of a public meeting held in Aberdeen last night.
Only 27 people attended the meeting, organised by postal regulator PostComm, at the Copthorne Hotel, but a spokesman said the body was pleased with the turn out and high level of discussion.
The meeting was chaired by commissioner Robin Arronson and attended by representatives of Consignia, trade unions and the National Association of Sub-post Masters. Representatives of consumer body Post Watch Scotland also attended, as did post-masters and post-mistresses and other post office workers.
He said: “Even though 27 doesn’t sound like a very high number we were very pleased with the level of discussion.
“The points raised were representative of the problems that we find not only in Scotland but throughout the UK.”
He said the meeting was part of a programme of visits to Scotland.
