Deutsche Post to streamline management in Express division

Deutsche Post is to streamline the management of its Express Corporate Division’s production branches. Initially, the Regional Business Departments Operations, EXPRESS Germany will be closed down and the number of heads of branch reduced from 33 to 13 with effect from 1 January 2003. The 33 EXPRESS Germany Production Branches will remain as they are. The previous Sorting Centre Operations and Delivery departments will be merged to form new Production (HUB) departments in each of the 33 branches, representing a consolidation of production responsibility.

The second restructuring phase will come into effect on 1 January 2004, involving a reduction in the number of EXPRESS Germany Branches to 13 and the consolidation of administrative, controlling and HR functions in the new branch locations. The HUB function of the 33 units will be maintained.

The reorganisation will impact primarily on the branches’ executive staff. Production staff will not be affected by these measures.

The socially compatible implementation of the new branch structure has been coordinated with ver.di, the German United Services Union.
