Posti extending mail delivery times

Posti has announced that it will renew delivery routes and extend mail delivery towards the evening. The changes will take effect from next Monday (25 April) and Posti said they have been introduced “due to a sharp fall in letter and publication delivery volumes and the increased demand for different types of services delivered to home”.

Posti said that intends to “deliver different products on all weekdays: newspapers seven days a week, parcels six days a week, and other mail five weekdays a week”.

Under the new system, deliveries will take place from morning through to the evening and the company hopes to undertake deliveries “as sensibly as possible by combining transports”.

Juhani Vuola, who is responsible for deliveries at Posti, commented: “People’s use of time has changed. For example, spending time with the family increasingly takes place later in the evening and people want many services at that time. Posti can also deliver entirely new services to home. Our deliverers already carry much more than just letters and publications.”

Posti added that the extended opening hours are “increasingly important for the online store, parcel services, home and safety services, food logistics and other local logistics services”.
