Lithuania Post sees growing demand for parcel terminals
Lithuania Post has revealed that the number of items sent via LP Express self-service parcel terminals in the first quarter (Q1) of 2016 was up by 36.5% on last year. Most of the parcels in the LP Express system are online purchases.
“Even goods purchased from foreign online shops, which are usually sent by post, are already available to be collected via self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS. Recently, the redirection of consignments sent by post to self-service terminals has become quite frequent,” commented Juozas Buitkus – the Head of Lithuania Post subsidiary Baltic Post, which operates LP EXPRESS activities.
Consignments sent by business clients via the LP EXPRESS self-service terminals increased by 30% – but the use of the terminals by private clients almost doubled.
Buitkus added: “The service of storing things in self-service parcel terminals LP EXPRESS increased mostly – even by 2.5 times. It is a new, but rapidly becoming popular service, which is particularly useful for residents of big cities who are always in a hurry. When you have no time to meet, but there is an urgent need to hand over an important thing, the intermediary unit can become a self-service parcel terminal.”
LP EXPRESS currently has a network 80 self-service parcel terminals operating in 41 Lithuanian towns.
