Dubai grocery delivery start-up looking to expand

On-demand grocery delivery specialist el Grocer, which started operating in Dubai earlier this year, has revealed that it plans to cover the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by the end of this year and then expand internationally in 2017. In an interview published by TechinAsia yesterday (2 May) co-founder Mickael Costache said: “We are solving a real pain point for people living in the UAE. People are busy, traffic on the roads can be horrible, and we are offering them a seamless solution to get their daily groceries delivered.”

el Grocer works with partner stores to source products, rather than operating its own warehouses. Orders made through the el Grocer app are passed on to the stores, which then use their own staff to pack the times and make the deliveries. The partner stores are committed to meeting El Grocer’s 60-minute delivery offer.
