DHL appointments
DHL has appointed Thomas Kipp as the new Head of Strategy & Business Development for the overall Post – eCommerce – Parcel (PeP) division of Deutsche Post DHL Group, while Charles Brewer now succeeds Kipp as the new CEO of DHL eCommerce. Brewer will be responsible for the management and development of the e-commerce logistics business in the Asia Pacific region, the Americas and Africa.
As members of the PeP divisional board, both Kipp and Brewer will report directly to Juergen Gerdes, Member of the Management Board of Deutsche Post DHL Group.
“After very fruitful years to increase our international mail business, Thomas has been very successful over the last two years as Head of DHL eCommerce in preparing a solid basis for further growth in the core markets in the U.S. and India as well as in other attractive new markets for eCommerce. With his rich experience in the company and as a longtime member of the PeP Board, he brings together all the essentials required to promote important growth areas and enable an early implementation of successful business models for our PeP division,” Gerdes said.
“Charles is a proven expert in the areas of supply chain management, international shipping and e-commerce, with more than 30 years of industry experience, covering multiple global regions and disciplines. Both his experience and passionate attitude make him the ideal leader to take the DHL eCommerce unit forward and deliver on our Strategy 2020 goals.”
Kipp has been advising Deutsche Post since 1999 and has been a Member of the Divisional Board for Mail since 2006. He was initially in charge of Sales for Deutsche Post’s large business customers, leading the organization into the fully liberalized German mail market in 2008. He then became the CEO for Global Mail Europe and was responsible for the operational Global Mail business at Deutsche Post DHL Group Headquarters. In 2009 he was appointed as CEO of DHL Global Mail, Deutsche Post DHL’s international mail business, followed by his appointment as CEO DHL eCommerce in 2014.
Brewer started his career with DHL in the UK in 1984 and held various management positions at DHL’s Express division in the Asia Pacific region, in the U.S. and latterly as CEO, DHL Express for Sub-Saharan Africa, before joining the pan-African Mara Group in 2015.
