Nippon Express to add rail link to China-Europe delivery options

Japan’s Nippon Express is reportedly set to add a rail link to its list of delivery options for shipping goods between China and Europe. According to a report published by Nikkei Asian Review today (26 July), Nippon Express is looking to provide two rail services a week from Wuhan in China to Germany’s Duisburg, and one weekly trip from Duisburg to Chongqing.

Nippon Express already provides air, sea and road services – but the Nikkei Asian Review article suggests that the rail option offers a good price/speed balance for potential customers like manufacturers looking to ship car parts or factory equipment.

Nippon Express reportedly aims to transport about 500 rail containers a year through the service.
