Whistl invests £3m in van fleet renewal

UK postal operator Whistl has announced that it is replacing its current fleet of vans with 104 Mercedes Sprinter and Vitos vans in a £3 million deal with Zenith. The company said that the move will reduce fleet costs by around 25%.

The new Mercedes-Benz vans have been fitted with the Isotrak tracking system that is currently used in Whistl’s HGV fleet.

Whistl said that the tracking system provides both better visibility of collection and deliveries and also improved the fleet’s fuel economy. It is also used by its Operations team to track arrivals of vehicles into depots which helps with the processing of mail.

The roll out of the new fleet across the Whistl network has begun and should be completed by September.

Nick Wells, CEO Whistl, said: “We are committed to investing in our business to improve efficiency and the quality of service we provide to customers.  I look forward to seeing the new fleet on the roads in the coming weeks.”
