China Post and Tencent working together on online marketing
China Post and Tencent have signed a strategic agreement to cooperate on marketing and promotional activities. “As one of the largest Internet service suppliers, Tencent Group has the two largest social media, QQ and WeChat,” said Zhang Ronglin, the Vice-General-Manager of China Post Group. “This is a long-term deployment to reinforce alliances, which coincides naturally without effort with the new media business development goals of China Post.
“As a unique company with real logistics, and flows of capital and information, it is an important step for China Post to cooperate with Tencent in the area of Internet advertising,” Zhang added.
The agreement calls for Tencent to provide a professional social advertising team that China Post will integrate with its new media team in Guangdong. The two parties will also inject resources to promote market development.
According to a notice posted on China Post’s website today (24 August): “In order to implement the strategic cooperation, China Post established an Internet advertising R&D center at its Guangdong branch that along with Tencent will lead postal media teams in China’s 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities to provide specialized internet advertising services for postal customers nationwide.”
