Christmas promise
Hermes has announced that it will be repeating its “money back delivery guarantee” for this year’s Christmas peak season. Hermes says that its Christmas Promise – which it is offering for the fourth year – aims to “helps retailers to avoid disappointing customers by guaranteeing that all online purchases will be delivered before Christmas Day”.
To add a bit of “small print” to the promise, Hermes is actually giving the assurance that “every parcel entering the Hermes network by 23.59 on Wednesday 21st December, and bearing a UK mainland address, will have a least one delivery attempt made otherwise Hermes will refund the delivery charge”.
So, to be strictly accurate, this is a commitment that a delivery attempt will be made for every purchase – but perhaps that is as much as any courier can realistically hope to do.
Martijn De Lange, Chief Operating Officer at Hermes, commented: “By making this commitment again, we are guaranteeing that customers will receive their presents in time for Christmas. Throughout peak 2015 we processed a total of 30.3 million parcels, with an amazing 1.4 million parcels processed in just 24 hours. This is a 24% increase on 2014 and we fully expect that number to rise this year. We are constantly investing in our network and infrastructure to withstand the increase in parcels and to ensure both customers and retailers enjoy the peak season.”
