Exel expands sea freight coverage in Ireland

EXEL EXPANDS COVERAGE IN IRELAND
09 January 2003
(Dublin, Ireland – 9 January 2003) – Exel, the world leader in supply chain management, has signed a deal to establish a wholly owned presence in the South East of Ireland.

The deal involves Kenny Shipping Limited who have been acting as an agent for Exel in the region for eight years. Under the terms of the deal, all current freight management activities managed by Kenny Shipping will transfer to Exel from 1 January 2003. Joe Kenny, Owner and Manager of Kenny Shipping will be retained by Exel as a Consultant, focusing on the development of Exel’s seafreight business. Orm Kenny, previously, Commercial Manager with Kenny Shipping, takes the new role of General Manager of Exel in Waterford.

“Exel has had agency representation in Waterford for a number of years and although it has been successful, we believe that this investment is necessary in order to position ourselves in the market for further business development. The extended Exel capability, including inbound contract logistics, manufacturing support, freight management by air, sea and road, outbound order fulfilment and reverse logistics, will now be more readily accessible to manufacturers and shippers in the area,” commented Michael O’Donoghue, Managing Director, Exel’s Freight Management in Ireland.

“We’re delighted with this development and believe it underlines our commitment to the South East region,” added O’Donoghue.
