Deliveries by TNT Latvia courier service up 27% in 2002

Amount of deliveries made by courier service TNT Latvia last year increased by 27 percent, said the company director Martins Gerkens.

In 2002 TNT Latvia helped to deliver 51,108 packages with total weight of 858,741 kilograms.

For comparison, TNT representation in neighboring Lithuania last year delivered 49,314 packages weighing 557,000 kilograms. The Estonian branch of the international courier service boasted the best results in 2002, delivering 78,192 packages with total weight of 4.016 million kilograms.

Last year most of packages sent by TNT Latvia clients had to be delivered to the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, the United States, Lithuania and Estonia. Documents prevailed among items delivered for clients in 2002.

“The growth of packages delivered by TNT Latvia in 2002 meets forecasts we made earlier in the year,” said Gerkens. He noted “rather tough competition on the Latvian market of courier services that makes vital continued study of clients’ needs and improvement of services accordingly.”

TNT Latvia has been in operation since 1999 and is part of the world courier service and logistics company TPG N.V. At present TNT Latvia also have regional representations in Liepaja in south-western Latvia, in Valmiera in north-east of the country and Ventspils on north-western coast.

Services by TNT Latvia are used by more than 2,000 various companies and organizations.
