UPS consolidate customs clearance service

United Parcel Service has introduced a new service that combines global express delivery with consolidated customs clearance.

UPS said the service, UPS World Ease, would enable customers to ship multiple packages to many destinations in the same country as a single shipment.

This allows goods to move directly through customs as a single unit, reducing the need for warehousing, inventory and shipping, UPS said.

UPS said customers can use UPS OnLine software to consolidate pre-labeled multiple shipments for clearance. Once the shipment clears customs, UPS separates it back into smaller shipments for delivery to final destinations.

For European Union movements, individual shipments destined for multiple countries within the EU are grouped into one consolidated shipment for customs clearance and cleared through a single port of entry. UPS said this reduces delivery time, minimizes errors and can reduce the customer’s need to store inventory in a warehouse in the destination country for re-labeling to the final recipient.
