City Express celebrates 30th anniversary

Hamburg-based city courier service City Express celebrates its 30th anniversary on 30 January. The company says it employs more than 260 members of staff, 240 of which are couriers. While the courier trade has experienced an overall decline since 2001, City Express managed to increase its turnover by 16% during the second half of 2002 compared to that year’s first half. The company reported a 7m euros turnover for the entire year.

Around 60% of the turnover is generated by so-called ‘standing orders’, i.e. regularly recurring transport contracts mainly with banks, insurance companies and publicly owned enterprises.
